KickSide/Use cases/Agencies

Build it once. Install it for every client.

You've built the same client system four times and billed hours each time. On KickSide you build it once as a module, install it into each client's own copy, and put your name on it.

Sixteen packages installing into a copy from the Hub, each listed under its publisher's namespace such as kickside/ and chestor/
How it works for you

Your clients own their copy. You own the module.

The knowledge was always yours. Now the thing you built with it is too.

01

One module, many clients

Package the ops system, the CRM setup, or the automation you keep rebuilding. Install it into any client's copy in minutes rather than repeating the build.

02

Your name on it

Publish to the Hub under your own namespace, publicly or privately. You keep ownership and copyright. Clients see who built it.

03

Updates in one place

Fix something once and every client can update from one screen. The fourth client stops costing four times the work.

04

Clients who'd rather you ran it

Run a copy on a client's behalf, as long as they own and control it. That's services, and it's free at any scale. Cloud Team gives you hosting, sync and single sign-on to do it with.

The Modules screen: Hub modules from several publishers' namespaces, each with version, downloads and licence, with Scan updates and Update all buttons
Modules. Everything on the Hub, each module under its publisher's namespace with its version, downloads and licence. Scan updates and Update all sit at the top of the same screen.
What a module becomes

Installed, it is a working surface in the client's copy

Each of these is a module on the same copy, using the same records underneath. A client sees them in the sidebar next to everything else they run.

How the money works

The same work, billed more than once

Nothing here requires you to become a software company or take on a product roadmap. It is the same delivery model you already run, with the rebuild taken out of it.

Hours of work per client

  • Your delivery work
  • What you can charge
  • The difference
Hours of work per client Client 1 takes a full build. Clients 2 to 5 each take a small install. What you can charge stays level across all five, and the gap above each install is the difference. Client 1Client 2Client 3Client 4Client 5

The first one is a build and it costs what a build costs. Every one after it is an install.

Illustrative shape, not a promise about your numbers. The point is the direction: the work falls away and the price does not have to.

Build it for the first client

A normal project, billed the way you bill projects now. The difference is what you are left holding at the end: an installable module rather than a folder of bespoke work.

Install it for the next one

Minutes instead of weeks. You can price the second engagement on the value it delivers rather than the hours it takes, and the gap between those two numbers is yours.

Charge for what you keep doing

Hosting, support, changes, and running the copy for clients who would rather not. Recurring revenue, on work you were doing anyway, and free under the licence.

Or publish it

Put the module on the Hub under your namespace. Public or private, free or paid, your terms. Every install carries your name into a company you have never met.

The commercial line

What's free and what needs a licence

If they pay you for what you built, that's services. If they pay you for KickSide, that's resale.

Free, at any scale, with no notice to us
  • Building for clients who own and run their own copy.
  • Running that copy for them.
  • Consulting, deployment and support.
  • Publishing and selling your own modules, from any source, anywhere you choose.
  • Putting KickSide inside your own product, as long as KickSide itself isn't what your customer is paying for.
Needs a licence
  • Hosting KickSide for third parties who pay you for access to it.
  • Embedding or white-labelling it where KickSide is the thing being bought.
  • Reselling it.

We grant those as a matter of course to hosting and platform partners, including on a revenue share, and the conversation is short.

The whole licence in plain language
Where to start

Install it yourself before you put it in front of a client.

Community is free and unlimited, so the honest first step is to build one of your own repeat systems on it and see how long the second install takes. Then talk to us about the partner licence.
